   Includes a slide-in adjustable shelf for sealing containers smaller than one gallon. Shelf slides in, providing a base for the smaller can. Once the paint can is in place, simply pull forward on the handle and Presto! Your can is sealed. Housing with base measures 9" W x 12" D x 11" H. Overall height is 18 3/4" with handle attached and at rest. All steel construction with chrome plated handle and rubber grip. Heavy duty 11 ga. steel housing, base and shelf. Gray painted finish. Speed up your higher volume pail or 16 gallon drum closing operation

Here’s a fast and effective method for closing moderate to high volumes of steel pails. Just place the tool over top of the cover, push down on the twin handles and the malleable iron jaws crimp all the lugs at once. Tools for light gauge pails are aluminum alloy for strength and light weight. Tools for heavier gauge UN-type pails are steel. Supplied with a grease fitting for easy maintenance and long tool life.

Manually Operated Tools have long handles with hand contoured grip for low-effort operation.

Manual Model 16BNS-UN has a non-sparking brass head for use in flammable areas.

Air-Operated Tools have dual handles to keep hands away from pinch points. Each handle is equipped with an on/off thumb control for added safety and ease of operation. Designed for overhead spring or counterbalance mounting. Requires 90 PSI air supply.

Note: All Manual Tools require sending a sample pail/container to the lug closer manufacturer to ensure a proper seal.

Air Operated Tools 16A requires a sample of the 24 gauge pail only. 16P-UN does not require a pail sample. 20A requires a sample of the 16 gallon 24 gauge container.

Production-type closing station increases pail closing efficiency. 2-palm safety interlock controls keep operator's hands away from pinch points. Powered by an air operated cylinder with a 6” bore and 3” stroke. Requires 80–100 PSI air supply. Equipped with a painted carbon steel pressure plate for non-UN and UN-rated plastic pails and a 304 stainless steel pressure plate for food grade closing operations.  Pressure plate applies even pressure for positive seal and features a "burp" plug that eliminates trapped air before the seal is made. Frame is made of carbon steel. Overall height is 45”.

*These units are designed for closing plastic pails only. The head is not interchangeable with a lug closing head.

Closing jaws on all units are made of malleable iron. Adjusts to accommodate containers with covers in position for closing 6-1/2” to 20” H. Overall height of unit is 69”.

*Closing both steel and plastic pails? Purchase a pressure plate and burp plug for closing plastic pails, sold separately in the table below. The burp plug helps release air from the pail before the pressure plate seals on the lid. Pressure plate and burp plug are both necessary for closing plastic pails.

Here's an opening tool that will save your pails

Unique positive spring-action tool opens covers from the side of the pail. Lever action gets under the skirt of the cover and lifts it almost straight up, minimizing damage to the cover skirt. Heavy gauge steel construction, with rubber handle.

PAL-5 opens Non-UN plastic or steel pail covers and closes steel pail covers. The curved end hook opens steel pail lugs; opposite end reseals lugs. A cutter is built into the tool for cutting through slits found on some plastic pail lids. Use the angled hook or side tong to pry off plastic lids, depending on the type of lid. Plastic handle grip increases leverage and is easier on the hands.

PAL-5UN opens and closes UN plastic or steel pail covers. It has all the features of the PAL-5 with an addded hammer head for closing plastic pails.
